A power point presentation will be given regarding the "Saving of Our Lady of Loreto Church" in Brooklyn. The Church, founded by Italian immigrants in the late 1800’s, was recently denied landmark status. Dr. Marilyn Verna and Mario Toglia will discuss the growing concern of losing such a precious historical site. The history and beauty of this particular National Italian Catholic church from its rise to becoming a focal point in the community to its decline after 100 years will be discussed. The building’s significance to the American cultural landscape will be explored and what a small group of preservationist are doing to save the site from demolition and bring it back into the 21st century.
